I do lean dry-combination, so I am not a fan of overly luminous foundations because my nose is always the first to get excessively oily, but this cream compact formula makes my skin luminous without too much 'glow' on any one part of my face (and that is without use of a primer). It looks great when applied sheerly, too, takes very little effort. The formula is indeed hydrating, but it also feels fresh and relatively light against my relatively normal skin. As I mentioned, the dry sponge method is fine but I found that a smaller, dense natural hair brush like Tom Ford's Cream Foundation Brush was the best application method to achieve well blended medium coverage. just do not use a wet sponge or wet brush, is all. The directions will instruct you to apply with a dry sponge only. The new VA compact has noticeably more pigment so you can use less product to even out the skin tone, diminishing freckles, but not completely covering them. The TI compact was best at sheer even though buildable to medium, the new VA compact is perfect at medium. The new Vitalumiere Aqua Cream Compact has an SPF of 15 and is made in Japan. Ummm.I wouldn’t list it in one of my favs for sure. The discontinued Teint Innocence Cream Compact only had an SPF of 10 and was made in France. That I feel is not only lighter than this one but also is one of the most flawless foundations I have ever used. I would any day pick Vitalumiere Aqua over this. Overall, I like this foundation but I am not blown away by it. I think that’s a brilliant point for a foundation. I have used it both with and without a makeup primer and it has stayed pretty well on me in terms of not moving or fading. Also for a long wear for 4-5 hours I did notice it settling in smile lines. Only for this foundation I’d have to pick up a Porefessional to make it look flawless. In photos the pores are not visible but in real life I always notice my pores looking larger than the usual whenever I wear this foundation. I took so long to review this foundation only to check it again and again if I am facing this issue only with this foundation. I have normal to dry skin and I don’t have the issues of big pores but every time I have used this foundation I have noticed my pores pretty visible. It’s a consistent fragrance in all Chanel makeup products and I quite like it. There is a strong rosy fragrance in this foundation. That said, it comes in 14 shades but you may find it difficult to find a real close match in the range. Although this foundation does not oxidise at all but I assumed if it would then atleast this would come to a real close match for my skin. I went with N30 because one, it is a light coverage foundation so I could get away with the shade. to be honest neither of the two shades were a real close match. I mostly pick a shade N40 in Chanel foundations but in this I picked up N30. Unless you are keen on picking up a particular type of foundation, I don’t think there is any major issue with this one. But I feel this foundation is for all skintypes because it is avery natural finish foundation that everyone can use. If have oily skin and you do not like any dewiness in your foundation, this may not be for you. The finish of this foundation is neither matte nor dewy…it’s somewhere in between almost bending towards a satiny finish. It looks natural but probably not as natural as your BB cream or tinted moisturiser. That said it is not the most ‘invisible’ looking foundation out there. Only for photographs or evening outs I’d probably build it up. I prefer to use just one layer and then fix the blemishes with concealer. But this foundation can’t be built up to a full coverage foundation. A second layer can totally be built with this without it looking cakey and it would cover 80% of the blemishes. You can still see your scars or blemishes peeking through. One pump would give you an even skintones but not much coverage. I picked up this foundation from Bangkok’s airport but you can get it here in India as well. This a light to medium coverage foundation.
